Aquamarine – Stone of Courage

Aquamarine is the birthstone of March and the gem of the 19th anniversary. Aquamarine name come from the Latin for seawater and it was said to calm the wave and keep sailors safe at sea. It also said to bring inner peace, hope, courage and self-love.
Like emerald, aquamarine is a color variety of the mineral beryl. Aquamarine color range from blue to greenish blue. The best gem combines high clarity and blue to slightly greenish-blue hues. Most aquamarine in the market is greenish blue and was heat-treated to give it more of the pure blue. Fashioned aquamarines often have to be over five carat in order to show darker blue color.
Most Faceted aquamarine are eye-clean. Stones with eye-visible inclusions are usually fashioned into cabochons, beads or carvings.
The aquamarine rough is fairly plentiful and can be well- cut into almost any shape, but most of the rough often fashioned into emerald, round or oval brilliants.
